The 4.7-inch Q.F. Gun Mark 1 to IV (120-mm) gun was in service between 1887 and 1918.  Manufactured by Elswick Ordnance Company, then a part of Armstrong Whitworth.  It was primarily used on warships, but was also used for coastal defences as a supplementary gun to the 6-inch BL gun.  Its’ higher rate of fire made it more suitable to faster moving and lighter warships. It was often mounted to cover minefields such as at Beacon Hill Fort and Lei Yue Muen Fort.
